Some businesses know exactly what they need built. Most know something isn't working, and aren't yet sure what.
Either way, the conversation starts in the same place; with us listening carefully enough to understand how your business actually operates before anything gets designed or built.
We've been doing this across more sectors than most specialists would claim - not because we know every industry, but because the underlying questions are usually the same. What information do you need, where does it live, and what's standing between you and using it well.
Custom databases. Connected systems. Automated workflows. Tools your team can run without us in the room. Built around how you work. Not how the software works.

01. The problem is rarely what it looks like

Clients don't usually arrive describing a data architecture problem. They describe something slower - a process that takes too long, a report nobody trusts, a new tool that doesn't talk to the old one so requires even more manual work, just something you can't do. The system you have isn't the one you need. Spreadsheets that only one person fully understands. Software bought for a general case that doesn't match your specific one. Processes that work; until they don't.
We start by listening carefully enough to identify what's actually causing it.

tl;dr

Discover the real problem, not just the presenting one

02. Never just one application or service

Might be Xero or Quickbooks for finance. Harvest or Clockify for time. Trello or Monday.com for projects. Each one doing its job - with none of them talking to the others. The gap between those systems is where time disappears, data gets duplicated or lost, and decisions get made on incomplete information. The risk is in moving information by hand more than neccessary.
We are well-versed in building hub solutions that manage the communication between your existing services; holding the data that matters, automating what doesn't need a human in the middle, and giving you a single coherent picture of what's happening.

tl;dr

Remove manual middle steps, one connected system, not six in parallel

03. Built around how you work, not the software

Off-the-shelf tools are built for the general case, and ask you to adapt to it. Your business is a specific, maybe unique one. What we build uses your terminology, reflects your workflow, and is operated by your team. No requirement for technical knowledge, and without coming back to us every time something changes.
The moment clients usually feel this: when two systems talk to each other for the first time, and something that used to take an afternoon happens 'on its own'.

tl;dr

Built for your team, not for us to maintain

04. We use what we build

We have run our own business on FileMaker since before the internet was a useful business tool. Invoicing, project management, client records, supplier relationships - the questions we ask about your operation are informed by having had to answer them ourselves.
That's not a sales point. It's why we know what questions to ask at the start of a project, and they tend to be the right ones.

tl;dr

We've solved much of this for ourselves already

05. Small team. Full understanding.

There is no handoff between the consultant who listened and the developer who builds. The understanding and the execution belong to the same person who came to this work through running events, producing video, designing brands, and managing logistics in the music business and for major UK blue-chip clients.
Over twenty-five years of practice means we've seen most of the problems before. We understand what a business actually is and needs.

tl;dr

Breadth of experience. No extra layers

06. The work finds us. Not the other way around.

We don't specialise by sector. We do specialise in understanding how a specific business works, and building something that fits it. Clients we work with are as varied as business itself.
Over twenty-five years, the work has taken us into:
school property · insurance · kitchen fitting · social housing · vehicle parts · industrial cleaning · rail infrastructure · building regulations · adapted vehicle rental · housewares · envelope printing · training adn certification · bathrooms & tiling · fundraising · print · radio commercials · garden centres · drama schools · waste management · estate agents · clean-room packing · IT support · counselling · concert rigging · jewellers · artists · industrial lifting · scaffolding · street lighting · recycling · car tuning · wholesale clothing · phone systems
If your sector isn't on the list, that's not a problem. It just means we haven't worked there yet.

tl;dr

A track record, for over 25 years
